Print and printed collages on A3 paper
A note on the technique
The papers from which the cut-out shapes are made are designed and printed using high quality pigment inks and a specialised digital printer. This affords a high level of control over the elements with which the pictures are composed and is completely computer-based, using a touch-sensitive tablet and pen. Over a number of years a large library of designs has accumulated and continues to grow. During the process of making the pictures, there may be 60 or 70 different printed papers to hand from which shapes are cut. These are pasted to a previously designed base print though occasionally work commences with a completely blank sheet. It is above all a cumulative process, with shapes added, edited, overlapped and occasionally removed. Sometimes there will be further additions of oil pastel and acrylic ink. However there are no "found" elements in these pictures. Each picture is unique.
